System compatibility guide
Below is the compatibility requirements outlined by ProQuest for the e-books for FE platform: Ebook Central: https://support.proquest.com/articledetail?id=kA1400000004NwSCAU
Desktop compatibility
For computers running Windows 7 use the most recent versions of the following browsers for full compatibility:
- Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) 11
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
For computers running Windows 10 use the most recent versions of the following browsers for full compatibility:
- Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) 11
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
For (Mac) computers running the latest version of Apple Macintosh OS use the most recent versions of the following browsers for full compatibility:
- Apple Safari
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
Older versions of Internet Explorer (IE) than version 11 is not compatible with Ebook Central. Internet Explorer (IE) version 9 or older are not supported by many products. They are not being maintained by Microsoft, to update the lastest version of Internet Explorer go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/internet-explorer.aspx.
Mobile device compatibility
Gestures and accessibility on mobile devices are not supported by ProQuest’s Ebook Central platform.
Pages of the Ebook Central platform are optimised for tablet usage, for compatibility use the latest OSs and browser versions, on the following browsers:
Android tablet with Android OS
- Google Chrome
Apple tablet running iOS
- Apple Safari
- Google Chrome
Windows tablet on Microsoft Windows OS
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
Information pages are optimised for mobile phone devices however the online e-book reader isn’t so you need an app. To get started with reader apps for mobile e-book reading see the guide. For compatibility on mobile phones to access the pages but not the reader use the latest OSs and browser versions, on the following browsers:

Apple iPhone running iOS

Accessibility compatibility
Accessibility Mode for screen readers and OpenDyslexic typeface is supported on laptops and desktops only, not on mobile devices
Accessibility screen reader compliance works with JAWS on IE (latest version) and VoiceOver on Safari (latest version)
